Mini-Me swap ?'s

Ok heres the break down on whats going on. I have a 1996 civic HB. D16y7 block with a d16y8 vtec head and intake manifold. Now first off will using a vtec controller instead of swapping out ecu's work ok? Do I have to wire up a knock sensor? My friend keeps telling me that I have to add an extra oil line to the head as in drilling and tapping a hole in the head and running a line from the oil pan or something like that for the vtec to work right. I dont see why I would have too but I could be wrong. I know vtec uses oil pressure to engage the lifters but what would the extra oil line do?

OK, I did this exact mod about 2 years ago on my car so I can help you.

Yes you can use a VTEC controller but I recommend swapping out the ECU for the P2P ECU. It has the air/fuel maps that will add power when VTEC kicks in.

Did you upgrade your injectors to the EX injectors?

You will need to wire up the knock sensor only if you install the P2P ECU.

You do not need to add extra oil lines etc - that's BS. The oil flow required to engage VTEC is in the head and VTEC solenoid.

Re: Mini-Me swap ?'s

I'm not sure what internals you think you need. The stock internals are good for over 200HP. A mini-me is good for maybe 126HP. So unless you plan on going FI, all you might need is a straight re-build.
