Need Some Help on choosing......

Ok well recently my motor overheated and pretty much blew up. so now im rebuilding. The vtec head went out today for a rebuild and i got a used block in the basement with 100k on it and it had two spun rod bearings. Its getting sent to the machine shop soon so im just gonna replace all the internals and im not sure what to got with. I need pistons, rods, bearings and all the other lovely things to go with them. Any advice on what to go with im on a very tight budget here i saw some package deal on ebay but its with low compression pistons for a turbo app. will these still work even if i dont run a turbo i plan too in the future

What do you guys think would be better and a better deal

Re: Need Some Help on choosing......

Those turbo pistons will give you something like 8.5:1 compression so you need to install a turbo and come up with tuning components in order to use them.

The high compression pistons are a cheaper solution cause you don;t need to buy a turbo but you still will need to get tuning components and a really good tune to run them.

So basically you need to decide on whether you want to go FI or NA.

Personally I would buy from someone else. I'd be suspicious of anything that's advertised as "Super Famous".

Re: Need Some Help on choosing......

Im just showing those as an example but im getting my block bored(if it needs it) and honed and all the other good stuff and it had two spun rod bearings so two of the rods are bad. do you know of any were i can get cheap oem internals or aftermarket ones that would be good for a stock setup. I am gonna go FI but that will be on another block later down the road. I do plan on building up the NA block mildly thats getting rebuilt now so i might get past 200 so should i just get aftermarket internals

I think the best deals on new OEM parts are here.

For aftermarket, try TunerToys but really in the aftermarket world there's not a huge difference in price from dealer to dealer. Comb the forums for used or BNIB items for sale.

You will probably NOT get past 200HP on an N/A setup w/o NOS.
