Manual Transmission Gear Question

Hey, all,

My project to swap the broken 2005 EX transmission is finished! I went to a upull yard and found a manual tranny for a hundred dollars. Beautiful. It was very clean, although I'm pretty sure that it came from an LX and not an EX. Now... I got it installed and running without any problems. The only question I have is, I notice that my 5th gear starts to top 35k RPMs at about 55/60mph. I would think that's running a bit high, no? 4th gear seems to run high, too. Shouldn't the car "comfortably" run at 22-26k range? I wonder if that will affect my fuel economy. Thanks in advance for the info.

Re: Manual Transmission Gear Question

the gearing in that tranny could be different,

manuals seem to rev a lot higher then the autos, my 2005 auto rpms were around 2800 @ 70mph

Re: Manual Transmission Gear Question

In my EX 3,500 rpm in 5th would be about 70 mph.

Re: Manual Transmission Gear Question

My 2003 LX manual turns 2500 rpm at 60mph.

I am running on EX wheels/tires so my speedo is likely off..

Re: Manual Transmission Gear Question

I was a little off, myself. It looks like the engine turns 2500 RPM at 60MPH. I think the tranny needed to settle in a little bit.
