Bought a 2001 civc ex manual a couple of months ago. Had engine light on. Just getting around to checking it out. Got codes p1259 & p0420. Car cuts out at 4000 rpm. Replaced vtec solenoid with refurbished ebay solenoid. No change. Started electrical troubleshooting the solenoid. Clicks when I manually apply 12v. Installed test light on ecu solenoid trigger wire. Lights up around 2800 rpm. Ecu only stay lit for 2-3 sec even if rpm is maintained at 2800. Don't know if suppose to stay engaged or cut out. I also noticed that ecu solenoid wire doesn't energize all the time around 28k rpm in every gear. Sometimes in only 3rd & 4th. Sometimes in all gears. I also think im getting p0420 code after engine sputter at 4000 rpm. This may be caused by p1259. I also have erratic high idles around 1500-2000 rpm. Seems like when I'm driving and get off the gas. The rpm drops to 1500-2000rpm then holds for 2-3 sec then drops to normal. Puzzled..Thanks in advance for any help.

oil quality poor?
oil pressure low?
faulty vtec pressure switch?

Oil level good. Fresh oil change. Not sure bout oil pressure but oil light not on or blinking. Not sure how to check pressure switch while driving to activate it.
