Hello,
My ABS light started intermittently coming on then going off. After doing that for a bit, it is now on all the time.
I noticed that after this happened, my car would not start if I did not drive it for a couple of days. I decided to do an experiment and disconnect the battery and then reconnect it after a few days. The car starts fine so the batter seems ok.
I took it to the dealership and they said it is my ABS modulator. Since I cannot replace this right now, they asked me if I would like to pull the ABS fuse.
After looking under the hood, I see 2 fuses, one is 40A and the other is 20A. Since the car would be sitting in the garage for a few days, I decided to remove both.
I checked today and the car starts. So taking the fuses out has stopped the battery drain. Can anyone let me know what are the pros and cons of driving without the ABS fuses? Also should I go further to see which fuse is causing the battery drain?

The ABS won't work. It's the same as driving any other car not equipped with ABS, like the same Civic you have only an LX or DX.
If you want....but I think you and the dealer already found it.

Do you know the fault code(s) for the ABS?

Thanks so much for the reply! I don't have the error codes. I am not able to change the ABS modulator right now. Will keeping the ABS fuses out while I drive affect anything else? I believe my normal brakes should work fine. This way I don't need to keep disconnecting the battery during periods when I am not driving. I understand that I won't have ABS.

It appears the two fuses in question (engine compartment fuse #8, 20A and fuse #10, 40A) don't power anything other than the ABS modulator, so it will not affect anything else on the car.

Normal brakes will still operate normally, as already mentioned.
You won't have ABS in the event of a skid.
