OK today while driving home i noticed my car was making a weird howling noise when i go off the gas at 3000rpm in 3rd, this just happened so i believe if i clutch in the sound goes away and i dont know if it does it in anyother gear . unfortunately I know best bet is to take her to a mechanic but was wondering if you guys could throw any imput.

Try decel from 3000 in other gears, see if noise is still present.

Where does noise come from?

Exhaust heat shields rusted apart from the cat/exhaust?

If you take it to a shop, be sure to demonstrate the problem to the mechanic. Take him for a quick ride so everyone is on the same page.

u-bolt from magnaflow was rattling heat shield(sounded really howlly lol) and wondering today my hand turned out to be faster than my foot and i pushed gearstick into neutral without clutching in dont think one time will hurt anything but what would be taking the damage

Now how on Earth is anyone else supposed to know you don't have factory stuff there?

But I DID guess exhaust rattles so that still counts!!


Just going to neutral won't hurt it (as long as it wasn't under a load, and it should be hard as hell to do that under a load).

Loud crunching noi$e$ from the trans are the ones that hurt.
