Howling noise 60mph+

This weekend when driving for Orlando and back, the first time since I have done i/h/e I drove the car with all windows and sunroof up at speed and the radio off. I usually always drive with the radio but I noticed this howling noise that went up with speed, I know that it isn't going to be any kind of engine or tranny problem because they would vary with rpm, it doesn't matter what gear I'm in the noise gets louder from 60-100 and doesn't get any louder after 100. Does anyone have any idea or the same problem? if it is a problem...

well tranny are expensive, so take the clutch off and find a cheap OEM on and send it in for a check up.

Found out what it is, my tranny mount must have been fubAred between my accident and me learning to drive stick on this car or both... the rubber insert is off-center in one of the sides of the metal housing. Probably not a big deal yet, just a little bit noisy. Anyone know how much those go for?

oh i am totally sorry for not knowin that u have a after market transmission and the sad news u know by now is true.the dealer isnt gonna be nice to u.the way it sounded like the gear in the tranny is broken, try a trans shop and i think manual is less expensive to repair than auto

No it's not a gear, it does it at 70+ whether im in 3rd, 4th, or 5th. I believe it's just the tranny mount since the rubber has separated from the metal.

I'm surprised you didn't have a really nasty vibration along with the howl. Tranny mounts are cheap, should be less than $20.
