Quick question

today while on freeway going about 70kph (cruise control on) i had to do an emergency stop , i had hit the brake but completely missed the clutch and stomped on the brake even harder, so could this do any thing to affect the engine or transmission besides alot of stress on the clutch

Re: Quick question

Are you saying you killed the engine by coming to a stop without pushing in the clutch?
No harm. Restart and go.
The stop wouldn't even stress the clutch one iota.

Re: Quick question

I'll guess.....once the engine goes under about 500 RPM there can be a lot of noise since it is still trying to run (with all its might if you are still on the gas), but the brakes are more powerful than the engine. You can feel every cylinder fire at very low RPM, it can shake and make noise.

It happens. I really don't think you hurt anything.

Re: Quick question

no harm done, i would say.

but like they say in racing, anything goes awry, both feet down to the metal (and no, not talking about the one on the right :P)
