Need some advice/help

Hey there, first post ever!

Anyways,

I have a question about my 2002 Honda Civic DX.
I'm experiencing a clicking noise whenever I accelerate and I cannot find the problem! I've repaired numerous things trying to fix it and have no idea what it could be.

I've been doing some research and there is no telling what it is, however I have found a Youtube video that replicates my exact problem.

Some details:
-The sound is predominant especially when I first start the car.
-It mainly is only noticeable in first and second gear, as well as reverse.
-Goes away after about 5-15 minutes of driving. (as the car heats up)
-Noise is only when I accelerate (it speeds up as I go faster)

The car is automatic.

Youtube clip - [autostream]http://autostream.com/ibcivicforums/?page_type=firebirdplayerthumbnail&framepage=1396& transactionid=1365456532-184146167209&posted_by=_www.civicforums.com&youtub e_video_id=zGx-jG5DGV0[/autostream]

Please if I could get some input on what it may be it's been driving me INSANE for the past year. To me it is the only thing wrong with the car.

Thanks,
Jon

Cracked exhaust manifold.

Typically the crack is wider when cold and shrinks as the manifold heats up so the noise lessens after a few minutes of running.

How would a blind person locate a noise?

Stick a hose in your ear and use it as a stethoscope.

Use a hose and put it in your ear? It's a bit hard to locate the noise when it is only noticeable while accelerating.. Anyone know a good mechanic I can get the problem diagnosed with in the Toronto area?

Re: Need some advice/help

Yeah. Garden hose, vacuum hose, whatever is handy. 3 foot length or whatever.

I was thinking you can snap the throttle open with your hand while you are under the hood to make the noise.

Have someone sit in the drivers seat and repeatedly blip the gas pedal while you hunt for the noise?

Re: Need some advice/help

I have taken my tires off of course, but how would I know if it is a splashguard/mudflap that is making the sound?

Keep em' coming guys!
