A House for a Mouse

I opened up my airbox tonight to check out the filter. I pull it out, and low and behold there is a nest of yarn in my airbox. It appears that at some point in time there was a mouse living in my airbox. Unbelievable...

My thoughts exactly. I've never seen it before either. I was beyond dumbfounded.

Happened to my dads old Tercel AND Corolla. If you have other cars, you should check their air boxes too. They're easy to get into and mice love little nooks and crannies.

Like the in-cabin filter box. Found a mummified gecko once.

Re: A House for a Mouse

I had a friend that had a rat get into the vent system, had babies then they all died because the mom couldn't get back out to get food.
The smell was so bad that their insurance had to pay to have the complete vent system, dash and all, pulled out to remove the bodies and fumigate the system.
It was really bad.

Re: A House for a Mouse

I wish I knew when the mouse was in there. I don't think it ever would have happened in my possesion, mice don't exist in my neck of the woods. But, supposedly the dealership went over the car before I got it.

My guess is that the dealership was full of it when they said that. And, the old couple who owned the car before me had it sitting forever(they drove it less than 5,000 mi a year or drove it for a while then something happened to one of the,)

Re: A House for a Mouse

OP, make sure you have a look at the cabin filter as well. Look for small bits of dark grey foam in it or worse.
