Concept of Alignment after strut change
I'm about to to change my front struts, and many people recommend alignment afterword. I probably would do an alignment, but I don't understand the reason...
I'm looking at all the bolts and nuts of the civic that I'm about to remove and reinstall, and none of them are adjustable, so I'm curious how the garage would re-align the wheels.

Depends on the design, and what needs to be taken apart.

why are they called struts?
because the shocks/dampers are structural parts of the suspension in 7th gen and above. 6th gen and below are double wishbone, so shocks are not struts, they are not structural parts of the suspension).
then you get new parts that are actual structural parts and you can only guess if they are EXACTLY the same down to the microns? Yeah, good luck with that. alignment is a thing that a small change could affect it.

It's a 2001 civic. Just changing the Struts that's it.
I understand why I need an alignment, I just can't figure it where the mechanic would make the "alignment" from. They're all bolted down. Thanks.

01 should get aligned with struts.
No, there isn't much to align but toe, but every part of the suspension affects the toe.
Toe is a huge tire wear factor if it is wrong. You can't eyeball toe down to 0.00 degrees and be right.
