Re: Carcomplaints.com 7thgen auto trans issues

Its not just the auto trans either. My 5th gear on my EM2 went out at 86xxx miles. Im starting to loose reverse now too. I'm not looking forward to the $900+ repair bill.

Re: Carcomplaints.com 7thgen auto trans issues

i know the manuals have their issues too, but the autos have a much higher fail rate. im not looking forward to paying $5k repair bill either lol. and all the shops i talked to say they will not rebuild 01-05 civic auto trans anymore because it has too many problems. they just drop in a used one that will have the same problems. i think when mine goes, the car is getting parted out and then hauled to a junkyard. im pretty happy i at least got 100k out of it. there and many people barely getting 25k and some getting 130k which is pretty crazy.

You would be happy if you got 160,000 km out of your car? I'd be furious and never buy a Honda again. There's no reason for ANY car to not last at least 210,000 - 220,000 km. And that's for the worst cars around... I'd expect a Civic to get above 300,000 km.

Of course with proper maintenance and everything.

Re: Carcomplaints.com 7thgen auto trans issues

well happy enough lol. ofcourse i would never buy a honda again because their quality has gotten progressively worse after 2000. taking care of it doesnt mean much if the parts are defective to start. i changed the trans fluid every year and lately every 3 months. thats 4x more than i change the engine oil lol. this civic gen does seem to have quite a few other problems too. just wasnt built to last despite the money ive poured in.
