Vtec solenoid help!!!!
OKAY!!
So I know there are a lot of ppl who know their SHIZNITS on this forum.
I've been getting that stupid safe mode+engine light on issue (I did my research). Yes, the motor doesn't let me rev pass 4000 rpm.
I've got a new solenoid on order that I bought for like 40 bucks.
So!! MY QUESTION!!:
Where the F*** is the solenoid located in the engine?
Can anyone post up a picture and highlight where the the solenoid is generally located?
I'll know how to take it off once I locate it!
Engine: stock D17A2

look in back left corner, you cant see it in that pic. if you have stock intake, you may need to remove it to be able to see the solenoid.

you dont have to take the intake off at all. just three bolts (10MM). the bottom one you only need to loosen as it is slotted.
in your pic you posted it is on the left side, right where the engine wiring harness is draped over it.

Funny thing is, (and I heard of this solution when I was researching)...I got an oil change and it fixed my problem with the engine light coming on.
However, I received the solenoid last night. Still gonna replace it.

So, I don't mean to necropost of thread hijack, but this is the thread that keeps coming up no matter what I type into google. Where does one get a new solenoid? And for such a low price?
Whenever I even so much as google the part name, most things come up with only the gaskets, except for this which has way too much involved, and for $203.
I appreciate any direction you lovely experts can provide.
(PS: I also got the oil pressure light - cured by tossing in a few quarts of oil - in addition to my check engine light. Will be taking it to bro's house to use his jack stands for a full oil change in the morning, but want to be prepared.)

I put 200 miles a day on an '05 civic driving to and from work and I run full synthetic oil.
When my oil inevitably gets low a rev limiter kicks in that won't allow the car to rev past a certain point until the oil is changed/replaced.
It's saved me from some expensive repairs as my engine has crept into the higher mileage range.

A smart monkey* would be checking and adding oil long before the car tries to tell you there's a problem.

The reality is that it does this when there is insufficient OIL PRESSURE to support VTEC operation.
There must be over 40 PSI at the time the VTEC tries to operate. If not, the CEL turns on and RPM is limited as a failsafe.
Loss of oil pressure is bad, very bad. (Much like blood lost from your body. Drain 3 quarts of blood out and try to run around the block.)
Low oil level is the most common cause of pressure loss, but not the only possible cause.
