Crower Stage 1 Feedback Please
Crower Stage 1 Feedback Please
I am have been looking for some personal feedback/experience with the crower stage 1 cam. I have been searching this forum and others and everything on about the stage 2 or 3 or why you should just buy the stage 2 or 3. Well Im not interested in the stage 2 or 3 cam.
I am look to hear from anyone who had the stage 1, any positive or negative feedback, their thoughts on its performance gains, difference in the feel of driving, and what other bolt ons you have on your car.
I have a 01 EX so the D17A2, anyone that also had the same, feedback from you would be awesome.
If there is a thread already covering this that I missed please let me know and we can end this thread.
Thanks guys

Re: Crower Stage 1 Feedback Please
There's a dude on "the other forum" that was making 124.5 whp with an automatic D17A1 with an A2 head, Crower Stage 1 cam, I/H/E, and no tune. Could probably squeeze another 5-10 whp with proper tuning. I think this is gonna be my next mod, assuming I gets monies.

I believe I saw cheap cams on weaksauceparts.com
I say don't go for any brand that classifies their parts with a "stage". Learn the right duration for your application. I am saying this because those companies often charge more for a larger duration cam that costs them the same to produce as a small duration cam.
I believe Brian Crower makes many cams with lots of different durations, even a big 310!

Re: Crower Stage 1 Feedback Please
i guess that is the tops anyone would be able to squeezee out from the D17's.
worth it, from what i hear.
the stage 3 would require springs and retainers and a hondata, so not interesting money wise.
There was one guy asking about the OBX or similar, but i hear they have some issues, so the crower stage 1 seems to be best option, especially if you can get one used.
Re: Crower Stage 1 Feedback Please
I have the stage 1 crower cam, the civic def. feels more peppy... 7-10WHP is avg HP from the stage 1. I have that and then whats in my sig, also an organic clutch (exedy) and a Exedy LW 11.6lb flywheel. gotta find my dyno sheet because saying i have 150 something to the wheels is just like dust in the air (lol) but thats all on 91 pump gas. the downside to performance parts is sacrifice gas mileage with HP/TQ... i get around 30 highway and 27 city on 91
