Failed inspection

took the car to the dealership yesterday to fix the srs light issue, while i was there i got the state inspection done since it was due well it failed

this is what they told me

Front engine mount broken 210
Front marker bulbs out 40
Control arm bushing broken 450
rear brake shoes worn 220

of course im not gonna have them do it because i already got the front engine mount and the bulbs i just want to know what i really need for the last two items

Re: Failed inspection

well if your mechanically inclined the lca bushings are fairly easy i would recomend energy suspension over honda bushings and you can rent the tools for free at alot of auto part stores like advance auto parts.there are DIY also.the rear drums are a pain in the azz to do but there are also DIYs on this .

Re: Failed inspection

Just replace the bushing since that's what they said. Don't go and replace something you dont need. Control arms are solid and don't usually break. Rubber bushings dry out and will deteriorate.

Must suck to live in VA. Here in NM, just need an emission test every 2 years. No such thing as an inspection, at least, not yet.

Re: Failed inspection

you should replace all 4 lca compliance bushings.and you most likely do not need a new lca unless the bushing was completely gone and was bangin around while you were driving which you would have definitely heard and felt.

Re: Failed inspection

energy suspension here you come. that front motor mount breaks every 10k miles. i bet yours was broken for a while. its made so poorly the small rubber pieces just snap. same with the lca. replace with es and be done forever. thats crazy they fail you for not having your car in mint condition lol. those are all minor problems that dont pose much of a safety issue. most of the cars on the road have all sorts of problems the owner doesnt even know or care about.
