Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

i don't fully understand why you need someone else (besides the adjuster) to tell you whats broken. He is the one thats going to be making the final price basically.

Looks to me like you only need a a new bumper and tail light. looks like the quarter panel was missed, but then again, its hard to tell from a picture. Can't tell if the chassis was damaged bad or not.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

pffft that's nothing to be worried about man. a picture is worth a thousand words obviously but by the looks of it your trunk is still in the same position meaning the dude probably hasn't adjusted your frame when the hit occured.

i can't tell if that's snow or just a really sh%^y angle picture you took but your rear fender looks like its fine as well and can be adjusted with minor touchups if there is any damage at all.

1x New Rear Bumper
1x New left Tail-light and bulb (maybe)

I love accidents like these. Why? Because now's the time to upgrade to an aftermarket body kit since most of them are cheaper than OEM parts anyways and it now gives you a reason now to spend a lil money on some exterior mods lol.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

i would say maybe $500 total for new taillight, bumper, and painted. so long as rear panel is fine.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

You should look into fixing it yourself rather than going through insurance.I had a similar accident- bumper cover only.Cost me $90 for an aftermarket replica bumper cover, $100 for the paint job(buddy I found on a local honda site) and install took me and a friend 1/2 hour.It would have cost me 10x that over 6 years of raised insurance rates. Well worth it imo

that including new full paint job right?
on a serious note, if theres any frame damage. 300 at the most to pull it. ~200 for new oem rear bumper from honda. ~50 for new oem taillight from honda. ~150 to have rear bumper paint matched.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

Believe it or not that comes from experience. So don't be so quick to act like a dipshit.

I got rear ended at 5 mph. Trunk was bent up, but not damaged or scraped whatsoever. She scraped my rear bumper, and misaligned the part of the frame where the striker sits. Quote from an independent guy was 2000 dollars, From a bigger bodyshop was 3300 dollars.

Edit: See for yourself, here's my car after the incident. And then see why I ballparked him at that much. You can see from his pic there is unibody/frame damage. That's where they charge out the *** for repairs

Might as well have been a semi compared to my car. The car that did it is the Lexus SUV sitting next to me in the pic

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

Well, thanks you all for the input...It would be nice to get two and a half or three thousand out of it! And yes, exterior mod's are definetly on the horizon, given the price from the adjuster is good enough. I hope the frame isnt bent though. I really dont want to total this car out, I mean I was just getting started with this thing. But if anyone has any ideas were I can get a good looking aftermarket bumper, let me know.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

www.hondapartsunlimited.com thats where you should get your bumper... or your local honda dealership. i recommend an 04-05 oem rear bumper on an 01-03. if i remember right, kaminari makes a pretty bad *** rear lip for your oem.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

i guess the real question is, how much damage actually needs to be fixed for the car to drive properly. i bet it drives just fine now even with frame damage. so really i dont think you should be worried unless theres some serious safety issues.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

andysautosport.com is a pretty reliable place as far as seeing what options are out for ur car. honestly it's so much easier to buy a full kit on ebay and knock it out early.

...your car won't be totaled out though. and even if it does get totaled out...accept the check from your insurance company (its like 8,000 or whatever your car is worth)...and BUY your car back from the insurance company for like 200 bucks...they'll give you a salvage title and you'll only be able to put liability insurance on your car as long as you have it but you'll have 7,800 bucks out of the deal to work on your car lol.

its the best trick in the book.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

Well the adjuster said that there was alot of damage to the vehicle, he highly doubts that they will total it out, but that he was going to do a total out estimate anyway just to see. He said that the rear driver side quarter panel was definetly damaged, and he quoted just that out in repairs without paint or nothing at 10 hours! Hopefully it runs about 5 g's in damages, that way I can get it repaired for about two, and still be able to put three g's into the engine or other things.

...I think you could fix that for a lot less... is there any metal bent other then the rear bumper bar? I cant tell from the pic.. if not, its just a new bar, foam, bumper, drivers tail, and paint, along with maybe 3 hours of work.

Re: Car hit! What do you think the damages are?

eh not bad man. insurance companies are good at "over-fixing" our stuff.

my hood came up one time while driving and smashed my windshield. all i needed was a new windshield (150 bucks) and to fix up the hood a little but my insurance came out and quoted me 1,300.00 worth of damage...i was like "where??"

but thats just what they do i guess. propz man!
