Exhaust help plzzz
Exhaust help plzzz
ok so i am driving a 05 lx. got an intake, and lookin into exhausts at the moment. I have read TRIZ's FAQ and everything talked to him alot and got a bunch of good information.
This is my question to everyone else out there. Is it worth doing an EX exhaust swap or should i just get an exhaust that hooks up to the stock lx header?
This is my DD so as for other performance mods, prob wont b to many, just looking for opinions, sitting on the fence atm. Thanks

i would just get the lx exhaust you will see very little gains from any after market exhaust for the d17 its not worth it whp wise onley sound wise.i put a header back exhaust on my car and got maybe 5 hp maybe. i cant feel any difference .

rgr, that is the general consensus that i have been getting from most forums, How about for the header? I have heard it changes the sound and other things, will the stock header b a problem?

You wont see a huge gain, but you will notice an increase in power and slight increase in torque.. the problem is the DX/LX manifold is a peice of ****.. its a stamped log style manifold that is very restrictive. Switching over to an EX header you have a dedicated pipe of each port before the collector (where all port runners meet), instead of each port shooting perpendicular to the log manifold's wall and imeditatly hitting the collector which goes directly into the cat. It slows it all up and holds some power back. Every little bit helps. It wont throw your *** back in your seat, but it'll add some much needed pep into your motor.
Re: Exhaust help plzzz
most def get rid of the stock exhaust manifold if you're going to be upgrading.
you're also going to need to get a an exhaust "bypass" done when you changeover to your headers. there's many ways to do it...most just get a hollowed out spark plug "defouler" and space the o2 sensor away from the exhaust system so that your car thinks it still has a cat converter on it.
...or you can be like 90% of other "performance minded" people and not do it and let your CEL (check engine light) go off and constantly stay on, burn out your o2 sensors, and then enjoy sh#$y gas mileage for the rest of your cars life since the ECU will think your cat is burnt out and adjust your a/f ratio.
good luck!
