Re: vortec cyclone

Dude, if I was you id remove this post cause your gonna catch flak for this one!
But, honestly I had a friend give me one of those pices of metal, and thats all it is, a piece of metal that resricts airflow in your intake pipe...DONT DO IT! Garbage bro!

Re: vortec cyclone

the air goes past the metal and spins the metal. The metal does not spin the air and make a vortex.

It's like blowing on a pinwheel. Does the air you blow on the pinwheel come out the other side in a vortex? No.

Now like mr22508 said, it restricts air flow because there is actually more stuff in the path of the air for the air to get by.

Re: vortec cyclone

armeio made an excellent point. You would get better gas mileage and horsepower by making sure your engine has proper maintenance.

Re: vortec cyclone

yea theyre garbage. the whole idea behind your intake being upgraded to an aftermarket intake is to get MORE air sucked into the engine. this basically takes the speeding air and slows it down by absorbing it and spitting it out the other side, or even sideways which would slow it down even more.

the only real way something like this would work is if that thing was powered by your vehicle inside and not the actual air entering it...then maybe if it was spinning fast enough it could suck in the air and spit it out faster. a good example of what im talking about would be like an airplanes propeller vs that toy windmill thing armieo posted a picture of haha.

Re: vortec cyclone

yeah. there isn't even any sound logic behind this one... but it's better you ask than to get sucked in.

Re: vortec cyclone

We put one of those things into my friends geo storm for ***** and giggles and dyno'd it. I dont think he is going to win any races with or without the cyclone, the whole stock 74hp went down to 67 hp. The whole thing is a fluke from the beginning if you know anything about a car anyway because think about it....once the air goes through the throttle body it gets re-dispersed back into the intake runners. So even if the air did form a vortex (which it does not) right at the point of this device, the vortex would just get spread back out when it got to the plenum. Dont waste money on this thing, id like to bitch slap whoever made it.
