low end torque?
Re: low end torque?
as for the supercharger comment, there is no supercharger on the market for the d17. Plus, the way hes describing his issue, a supercharger wouldnt really be a fix. it just increases your powerband overall instead of in a certain area.

No supercharger for our d17. Seems like little turbo would not present as many headaches as big turbo.
Curious beat me to it.

Worm holes are mysterious phenomenon that people don't understand. Turbos are known phenomenon that most people don't understand. There's a difference.
Re: low end torque?
just because there is no supercharger kit doesnt mean you cant supercharge it. Supercharger will generally kick in before the turbo does and die off in the top end. I think a SC from a mini would spool at around 1600-2000 rpm
With low boost and good tuning you wouldnt need an intercooler cause u are not after a lot of power.
Either way shouldnt be too hard to fabricate a mount for a supercharger but then again my project car has very little aftermarket support compared to civics where you can pretty much go to walmart ... so my point of view is different.

superchargers in general are actually different in all aspects. some tend to make power in all places in the bandwidth, acting very similar to an N/A motor, some tend to have low end grunt similar to what you say, and some tend to shine top end, like on the s2000 so you cant really generalize. Plus, we dont know how a D17 will act to a belt and pulley since it has NEVER been done before.
our d17's are the last of the D's so they have very limited aftermarket support compared to the other D series motors out there
Re: low end torque?
yes I understand the deal with the the different superchargers and of course you would need a smaller one that would work at low revs.
I also understand that it hasnt been done before and isnt a lot of aftermarket (that actually sounds like an oxymoron), but there is NO aftermarket for toyota tercels and a guy on the forum recently installed a supercharger (dont know which one he has).
So if there is space under the hood of a tercel i think the civic will work too.
