Need Help On Suspension
Need Help On Suspension
Im getting two GREAT offers for suspension on my car............
Coil Overs (IDK what Brand) for 60 bucks
and also HR or something H springs that cost like 187, but I get them for like 80 bucks. I think it'll give me like a 1.5 to 2 in. drop.
here is the thing, as most of you know, when u drive ur EM2 on the highway at about 70mph the car seems to start bouncing, the suspension seems to be like free and moves wildly, and when going over a speed bump it takes a few ups and downs for the car to settle.
I want to minimize or even get rid of this movment.
I also wanted to lower my car a bit so my 18in Rev Rims could look 18 in and not 17 or 16in.
Now should I get the coilovers or the Springs?????
Another factor I would like for you guys to take into consideration is that , I live im Miami Florida right now, and down here the world is FLAT FLAT _________, so slammed cars have no problem navigaing the streets, however I am moving to tallahassee this summer, and there it has many hills and ups and downs........
With the coilovers I can always adjust my height, but not w. the springs.
Im afraid if the springs are too low, that my car would start scrapping the flooe in tallahasse. Then again, people tell me that the coilovers are too bouncy and would worsen my suspension.........
Please tell me what you guys think?????????
this is my car now..................

Re: Need Help On Suspension
dont forget to get a set of tokico, kyb or koni shocks to go wit the springs. and if u goin to drop 1.5-2 in. buy urself a set of camber kit.. it will save u some cost on ur tires down the road. good luck.

Re: Need Help On Suspension
Real coilovers are like $900 bucks. Ebay nameless are $60.
That's close to a 666% price difference. Which is also a sign of the devil. Be afraid, be very afriad.
If you can't get real coilovers get Tokico Blues and your H&R springs. If you can't afford that, just get springs and throw them on your stock shocks.

Re: Need Help On Suspension
So I already got the HR springs and it looks great. I have the stock shocks though, do you think that I'll have a problem any time soon??? How long have you had the HR springs and the stock shocks..??? Some people are telling me I should buy shocks, but I really dont want to spend money on my car anymore until I get enough money for a K20.... what do you suggest? should I do anymore suspension work?

Coilovers or springs......coilovers. THESE coilovers or THESE springs.......springs. My friend has H&R springs on his RSX, they're a great brand. You'll eventually kill your stock struts from the shallower springs but it'll take about 2 years if your car's new. I have Tein springs with my stock struts, been that way for a year now with no issues. So if you got the money to replace your struts prematurely then go ahead and get the springs. If not then don't bother changing your suspension at all because you're just delaying the inevitable.

Call your insurance company and ask them what they think of you doing this to your car. You might think, "No way, what if they say no?" Well, better they say no now than when your car's a steaming pile of steel on the interstate and they say no to you then because you illegally modified your vehicle. Check it out for every state you're going to be residing in with your vehicle.
Get a camber kit. You might think, "It's fine, Billy's sister's dog's brother slammed his car and nothing happened." No, Billy's sister's dog's brother is a liar because you will kill your tires in 6 months if you don't buy a camber kit. Yes you do need it, no there is no exception.
Get a wheel alignment after changing your suspension anytime. Yes, this includes anytime you change the ride height on your coilovers. Again, Billy's sister's dog's brother is doesn't know anything about cars if he told you otherwise. You need a wheel alignment, this will stop the rubbing that will happen from a 215/35/18 tire on your fender and also stop shaking in the steering wheel at high speeds which will lead to parts coming loose in your front end and killing other portions of your suspension.

haha ya, I'm laughing when I make some of these posts but I think sometimes I come across as a jerk. Oh well, I get positive reps for the most part so I guess it'll work itself out.
