Srs Light
Srs Light
hi, i recently have had my srs light come on and i was wondering how i would trouble shoot the problem.
i think that it is because my drivers seat belt does not lock, like when you pull it out all the way and it is supposed to lock you in tight, it doesnt do taht.
could that be the problem?

Re: Srs Light
yeah it could. The reason I ask if you were in an accident is because your seat belt tensioner works only once in an accident, and has to be replaced if the car isnt totaled. Has to do with a mini blast/charge- think of a circuit or chip being broken. This is what could be throwing the srs light on. If you yank on it (when its fastened) does it lock up, or is it just loose? I think this is what your describing.
If you havent tryed resetting it, then reset it, if it comes back on, replace the tensioners.

car has a clean title. no accidents.

it is loose, but it hasnt always been like this since i have had the car,
that is why i am thinking that is whats wrong.
there is supposed 2 be life time warrenty on seatbelts...but stupid honda wont replace them for me without the diagnostic which could take up to an hour at 105 bucks an hour. its rediculouss
and yea i tried to reset it, but it just came back on.

Re: Srs Light
Take it to another Honda dealer. I had a similar problem with the seatbelt buckle and they replaced it at no charge. If that doesn't help, talk to somebody higher up the authority chain.

Re: Srs Light
You could have done it your self for free.

All you would have to do is use the search option on the top of this page. It has been posted several times.
Re: Srs Light
the drivers side seat belt is not supposed to lock when you pull it out all the way...its only for the passenger seat belts (so that you can put child/baby car seats in there). I thought mine was broken too, then I checked my manual a couple days ago, and it says it in there

Re: Srs Light
I reset my light following the instructions on this forum. Worked first time.
The computer at Acura pointed toward the drivers buckle. I may have to get it fixed. When I googled this same problem, I also ended up on a BMW forum where they were discussing the same issue. Someone suggested electrical contact cleaner inside the buckle, followed by resetting the light - so that's what I did. So I'll see how that goes.

Re: Srs Light
can someone point out the seat belt tensioner part on hondaautomotiveparts.com?
MY SRS light was coming on about once every 2-3 days, after each time I reset it. I think it's been a week now, getting better.
I notice one thing though. MY SRS light will ONLY come on after I have put the car into park. It will not come on randomly when I'm driving. I have to slow down to a stop, and put the car in park I believe to get the light going.
Then if I turn off the car immediately after the light comes on, sometimes the light won't come on again. The light is annoying, and I would live with it, but I don't think I can pass inspection like this.

Re: Srs Light
bring it to your local honda dealership. I just got a notice in the mail regarding the SRS light for my 02 Honda Civic EX saying that the light comes on when it shouldn't and all that stuff. The noticed said that if you ever had that problem and had to pay out of pocket expenses they will repay you and if you currently have this problem, they will fix it, free of charge.

Re: Srs Light
That sucks. I already disassembled my gauge cluster and just put a piece of black electrical tape over the light. Oh well, it was pre-7thgencivic.com when I did it. Not taking it apart again.
Re: Srs Light
jjj- does the letter come from HONDA itself? so honda knows whats the issues with this.
i got an 02 Civic ex too, SRS light up today! well i did i lil search today ending up buying that #07PAZ-0010100 (SCS service connector) for the reset. hope it doesnt light up again. while waiting for that SCS should i bring my car to honda? maybe they can fix my car for free, i dont have any warranty right now.
can you post whats the notice you got. thanks!
