metal ring under 2010 Honda Civc

I have a 2010 Honda Civic. There is a metal loop under the trucnk that is visable near the rear of the car. Does anyone know what this is for?

if i am not mistaken, its a holding down ring to hold the car during transportation (from factory to dealer, for example, or tow it.
