Manually switching on VTEC?

Would it be possible to manually switch on Vtec at whatever point you want? I was reading the instructions on the V-AFC, and I know you would have to be sending your own signal to the VTEC solenoid, but what signal does the V-AFC send to the ECU's VTM? Does anyone know anything about this or if this is even possible. Please let me know. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Absolutely. My freind has a little red pushbutton on his shifter for engaging his vtec. Only because he has an engine swap (in his crx) and hasn't gotten the proper wiring harness/ecu yet. Why would you want to "break" a working system though?

my friend's crx has a B16 and the only reason he has a pushbutton is becuz when the swap was done it was connected right to the ecu. its good tho, i've driven it hard a few times and the button is dope!!!! always nice to hear the vtec scream when u press the button.... of course it doesnt really have any use in the lower rpms tho.

Ok, so we determined you can send a signal to the VTEC solenoid, but what signal is a device such as a V-AFC sending to the ECU?

It has something to do with vtec input and vtec output...The vtec input is when the vtec engages as normal...The output is what you can control with the VAFC. I'm not sure how it exactly works but it is neat when it kicks in a 5000 (that's what I have mine set to)
