PLEAS HELP ME DRIVE MANUAL !
please post step by step on how do u drive manual....... ie. starting car, to putting in gears
heres wut i know so far......
1. put ur stick in neutral and step on clutch when starting da car. dis way it won't jump
2. once started, clutch still pressed, put the stick to whatever direction ie. reverse/1st gear
3. release the clutch slightly while slightly pressing the gas.... they call it rolling sumthing
4. everytime u want to switch gears press the clutch first

question..... when u brake do u have to press the clutch as if u were changing gears? or u dont have to.

I KNOW IM A DUMBASS but i think it will be convenient for me to know from all u fawkers so i would have a rough idea ....... it wouldn't be hard to post steps like 4/5 right?

All that sounds good dude.........and yes, you have to step on the clutch as you come to a stop, otherwise you will stall (unless you are in neutral). Good luck and be careful.

Alright, you need to understand how it works to actually be able to do it (much simpler if you actually understand what's happening).

Hitting the clutch dissengages the drive train so that you can switch gears, stop, start the car in gear, etc... If you used the brakes and no clutch the engine would stall as the rev's would drop to zero, so what do you do? use the clutch.

when downshifting try to match the rev's with your speed then release the clutch, if executed perfectly this will not wear down your clutch at all. When starting from a stop just bring the revs to say 2000rpm (just for learning purposes), and slowly release the clutch, once it is partially engaged allow it to slip until the car is travelling at a decent pace, at which point you can fully release the clutch, floor it etc...

Also try to rev match when upshifting, so it will be smooth and reduce wear on your tranny, clutch, engine etc...

hope this isn't too confusing, and I probably should have explained it better, but hey, I'm a lazy ***.

thanks dudes, ya probably thought.... why da hell is he asking questions if he knows how to do it? well ive hand in hand driven a manual tranny for a day/ should i say 1 hour. my cuzn hooked me up wid his golf, and boyyyyy !!!! im jus trying to refresh my memory.

one more question... say ur on brake not steppin on da clutch and ur gears is on neutral right? so when u want to put it in gear, u step on da cluch(brakes still pressed) and put the gear. then release the brakes?

in general...... you ALWAYS have to press the clutch while changing gears and braking right?

THANKS AGAIN!

well if your just slowing down by 10mph or something and you don't need to downshift, don't use the clutch. Just hit the brake until your travelling at your desired speed, not too hard though, if you lock the wheels the engine will of course stall (but it'll restart as soon as the wheels unlock, just like push starting).

You will basicly feel when you need to press the clutch. If you feel the car stalling or you see the RPM's drop bellow, say, 2k, then you should use the clutch.

My suggestion, go out to a rent-a-car place and rent a 5sp. That way you don't f uck up anyone's car you know.
