Need help with throttle cable adjustment

Obviously I want to adjust my throttle cable. I followed the DIY posted on the site, but I can't seem to get it adjusted. Do I need to have the throttle held open or closed? I can't seem to get the locknut lose. Basically, I NEED HELP!

How long did you work on it before you posted this question? Look at the cable. Think it through. It's not that hard. There's only two nuts. Remember, righty tighty, lefty loosey.

Yeah, I got the whole righty tighty, lefty loosey deal down. That's not what I was asking in the first place.

I think I know what you are talking about. After I got the nuts loose, I twisted the throttle pully a little making sure not to open the valve and took up all the slack in the cable. I got a little less that an inch of slack. Make sure you don't tighten too much or your car will idle high, then you will have to readjust again.

Basically you want to unscrew one bolt. The right one when facing the front of the car. Then screw in the other bolt to tighten the throttle cable. You may want to unscrew the right one a bit more so that you have enough room to screw in the left one. You want to tighten it until the little black metal thingie on the throttle body hits another piece of metal. Look at it. Pull on the throttle cable and you'll see what I mean. That's the slack that you want to take up. If after doing this your idle is higher then you tightened it too much. Go back and put some slack into it. Good luck!
