i just installed my apexi V-AFC and i love it, when i set the V-tec at 4900 rpm, it kicks in nasty, kinda like if i had nos or something...
i don't know but there is a problem, the check engine light goes on sometimes, and is off at other times... i don't know why...
im going back to the place i had it install, other than the little light, it run normal and perfect... i also love the gauges, graphs, and meters.... it is so sick, its like me being able to reprogram the fuel, whenever i want to...

if you have the stock ecu, you can only adjust the air/fuel ratio off from stock settings by like 1%, or by a very small amount. same with vtec controller. why did you set the vtec to engage at 4900k? it engages at like around 4300-4700k stock.... so maybe that could be it, try turning it back down a little and see, same goes for you air/fuel settings too, turn those back closer to stock, and see if it still does it. if it doesn't then go ahead and tune from there until your at the threshold of max performance and no engine light.
hope that helps.
