How is a warrenty Voided
ok i know that any after market voids but if you have that 100,000 mile warrenty and i wanted to know if i took it in for a oil change i they saw a cai or headers would they void my warrenty right then
They can only void your warranty if there is a problem and or issue. If this problem is because of your aftermarket items, then your warranty is void. If the problem has nothing to do with your aftermarket items, you're good to go.

form3hide is correct...kinda
I do know that sometimes "inspectors" for Honda go through service departments and look around...If they find a car in for servicing that has mods on it, they tend to look it over and can void your warranty, if they want to, on the spot in their database(for everything that is covered if they want)

I thought they void the warranty only for a particular part that is replaced. For example, if you have a catback exhaust, it voids exhaust warranty (obviously).
A service manager at Honda told me that my short ram intake doesn't void any warranty. They just won't change the air filter at the 15K tuneup (again, obviously).

I dono about your dealer but mine will blame any problem on anything you do to the car. Like i was getting springs installed and the installer said ur struts blown so i never got them put on and they tried to tell me the springs that were half on blew it. Then my window motor went and they tried to void cuz i painted my interior pieces.... then i got some dents in my car and thats when i decided to buy a 93 hatch and supe that up instead

They can't void any warranty unless it causes the problem in question... the only time that they can void it on the spot is if it is clearly stated in your warranty that aftermarket products will void the warranty... by federal law ::Magnuson-Moss Act:: I also have the 7yr warranty and I read through it and it says nothing of voiding the warranty due to aftermarket parts... it just says work must be done professionally and to keep the receipts for all work done. You should have the warranty information, I think it's CNY, the insurance company that handles our warranty claims. I'm gonna double check it later. The service department is going to try to get money out of you by saying you voided the warranty.

Good site, smokie
I'll have to retract my previous statement...that was said in a conversation with the dealer's Service Manager, so I thought that it just might be true...?? (we all know how the dealer's can be)
Thanks for the knowledge...

I emailed CNA (not CNY) to ask about our specific coverages. I will post the response when I receive it. I asked a bunch of questions and they should answer any question anybody should have relating to warranty coverage and their policy relating to the Magnuson-Moss Act. I'll keep you posted.
