Major AEM CAI intake install problem. HELP!!!
I went to install my AEM cold air intake on my 02 Civic EX 5 sp today, everything was going great until I made a major mistake. I read in the DIY instuctions to use a 12 x 1.25 nut to mount the bracket for the second pipe near the transmission. Well I had what I thought was a 12x 1.25 nut to mount the bracket on the transmission bolt. I started to tighten the nut onto the transmission bolt and it ended up being the wrong size thread. So, I ended up stripping some of the thread off the transmission bolt. Now, I can't get the correct size nut on the transmission bolt to mount the bracket for the AEM pipe. Needless to say there is no way to mount the AEM pipe bracket now. Would I be able to have this bolt re-threaded? How much would it cost to have a new transmission bolt installed? I really need some advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
go to a hardware store and explain the situation to the clerk he can help you . you'll need to retap the threads, and obtain a new bolt. you only added five minutes of extra time onto the job don't worry...

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone know what that bolt going to the transmission actually does? Does it go to the mount for the tranny? Just to make sure we are talking about the same bolt, it is the bolt with the pointy end. Where could I go to have the bolt re-thread? Thanks for the help.

The intake should have come with all necessary hardware to use. I am not sure why you had to use an extra nut??? I have the same intake and everything that came with the kit was used and it worked fine.
well the tranny bracket that I think your speaking of holds the line hydralic line for your cluctch to engage and disengage .. make sure you have the sucker lined up right or you will get a clicking in the pedal when you shift . this happened to me

Hey Aleinmeatsack, Thanks for the idea. Does the clamp move at all? Also, how long have you had your intake set up like that? Thanks again.[hr]

Once I did that, the install was pretty much done... I went back thru and tighted all of the clamps from the throttle body to the middle clamps that hold the 2 pipes together and was done.
I think the whole process took me 45 minutes to do start to finish. I had the stock resonator/filterbox off in no time but took my time on the items I had unhook or unscrew from the engine/tranny to make sure I didnt strip or lose something.
Very easy to install I thought.
