Rep Power: 0 is AEM CAI hard enough to install that you can easily mess up??
or is it fairly simple enough that I wouldn't have to pay someone to do it??

Rep Power: 0 i'd do it myself. instructions come with the CAI. you should look at the DIY for clear headlights so you know how to remove the bumper. anything can be done correctly if you put enough time into it, besides it will give you a chance to learn more about your car. moreover, if you paid someone else to do it, they will be in the same situation as you since this is a new generation civic
EDIT: sorry bout the "taking off the bumper".... i guess you don't have to

Rep Power: 0 AEM gives you good instructions. They even tell you exactly how to remove the stock parts and have good pics for the installation. The Short Ram was easy, and I think the CAI is just more pipe going up front for cold air. Get the kit, read the instructions and look at your underhood setup and then you can decide if you can do it.

Rep Power: 0 If you have a friend that is also knowledgable about cars (or even if he isn't) do it yourself. Also, I didn't have to remove the front bumper to install the intake with the K&N

That rulez so much that you walked your fiancé through it. That takes a lot of sack... but will be worth it in the end. Imagine not having to do stupid **** to your wife's car like changing the oil, replacing belts, flushing the coolant (etc etc) CUZ SHE CAN DO IT HERSELF. I'm all about facilitating self-reliance.
and oh yeah, there are some DAMN GOOD female machanics out there; drivers too. Any of you ever check out that 80-year old granny who drags her 70' Skylark GSX? She fuggin rocks!
