newbie to 2k1's needs help fast

i need to know about the 2k1's suspension, i'm buying one, and throwing on some 18's and an exhaust to start, but have heard some weird stuff about how to drop them, like you have to use stock struts because only koni makes them now, and they blow up.. any help would be more than appreciated.... i really wanna know how to drop it about 2-3" or so... i dont really like coilovers though, never had a good ride in them... PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!

yes the only shocks out for our cars are konis. n no they dont blow up. if they do blow you could always have koni replace them. i only heard of like 2 people complaining about konis. as for a 2-3" drop, i would recommend neuspeed race, its about a 2.0 back and 2.25 front. i know its not that low but theres only like 2 companys that make them lower then 2.5", n i dont think the company are that good tho.

how do you get a 3 1/2" drop in the front? what size tires do you have? cause i have sports(1.7") on stock wheels and i think the most i could go is an inch lower without taking out the black fender well.

as for the camber kit question. you dont NEED it even with a 5" drop(i'm exaggerating here). but ya its recommended you do get one even if you do drop your car .5" or 1". most people will say that its ok to drop your car without one unless you go 2" or lower but ya its always best to get one and it wouldn't hurt so...

The only way to get more than a 2" drop on our cars - at least from what I've seen - is to get a full coilover kit. I think Eibach makes a pretty good one, and you can get them fairly cheap either in the store on this site, or take a look on eBay. They have some good deals, just be careful who you buy from - and watch out for high shipping costs. Second, if you do any kind of drop, it's probably good to get a camber kit - either Ingalls, or I hear SPC (not Sedan Pimp Crew ) makes a good one also. But if you're planning on that much of a drop, you're pretty much definitely giong to need one.
There's more info in other posts, do a search and I guarantee you'll find the info you're looking for. Hope his helps ..

Cheers!

yeah, my car was phat, i still have it, i sell it tomorow, and pick up my 2k1 tomorow as well. old car is a 94 hatch with 11.5:1 comp. gsr swap, car 6 months ago was a 91 hatchback, full kit, hugger orange with 17" white racing harts, so you know this wont be stock for long.... thanx for all the info, i hope it keeps coming. so far, from what ive read, i might get the neuspeed race springs, or like some H&R's cause i think they make like a 2" drop. i have a camber kit on my 94, and its dropped 2.3" with progress springs (pass. side sits like 1" higher, wierd springs), and that worked out well, but REALLY f'd up the alignment, almoust couldnt be fixed. do i really need a camber kit on the 2k1 if i go with 18's and a 2" drop, or will i be okay with a good alignment? and once again, can i use the stock struts if i dont drive crazy, i guess i just really wanna wait on the tokicko's, i've had great experiences with them, and NEVER have i liked konis. i really dont wanna go into why (they cost a bunch of money to repair the damage)....

toretto, since you cut the front fender well, how did you block the well so that dirt wont go into your engine?

dont drive in the rain, 1 reason dont take a chance with the
CAI, but the lower you go the more it will eat the wheel wells up so get
rid of them. and it doesnt get dirt on engine. once you take them out you have a
lot of space for your wheel...
