Nope it won't melt. Just make sure you buy good brands. The cheaper brands are the ones that will melt your shiiiit.

Here's my .02: I have tried PIAA, Carmate (Catz), and Raybrig--all of which are anywhere from $60-90, btw--and one of the bulbs would always quit around 1-3months.
Now I have a cheap set of Eaglite Plasma Xenons (blue-white, really) that I bought for $20 from a friend...They're fine after about 2 months now and counting...

It just doesn't add up...I gave up trying to figure it out

What if I happen to get some cheap bulbs and end up melting my wires..how much damage will it do? Is it easy to clean/replace?

If U wanna look like U have HID buy HID...otherwise just invest in some high powered regular bulbs.....maybe they dont look as cool but the light they put out is far superior to any of the HID wannabe lights....

Just my $0.02

as far a burning the harnesses just relay the lights and use a larger guage wire (I use 12awg wire on mine) and everything will be fine
