I drive a 2004 with less than 60,000 miles on it. Two issues I am having right now.

1. When I try to start my car, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries. No lights come on, and it always starts eventually. I have not noticed that this problem coincides with any environmental changes.

2. My car shakes at times. No lights come on in this case either, and I notice it shakes more when I am braked.

I have been told that these problems are anything from my transmission to "not a big deal." I live in Hawaii, which has a lot of stop and go traffic and it rains pretty frequently. Could this be a factor and can someone lead me in a direction to start in? I am wondering if this is a DIY check/job.

probably already did, but should probably check your spark plugs for issue #1

don't really know exactly what #2 would be, but if it were your transmission you might wanna get it checked out, i have a 2003 civic (auto) and never had that, if your transmissions causing your car to shake a lot it probably isn't too good...

sorry I couldn't be too much of a help, don't really have much experience with that

try this and see if it helps any scroll down to the ITCV diy . also do a tune up plugs and filter also try a fuel system cleaner like tecron or gumout.

When was the last tune up done? Pull out a spark plug and see what it looks like. I bet its fouled up.
