Is 2004 honda civic transmission better than 2001

The transmission on my 2001 honda civic blew out and I would like to replace the transmission with a 2004 transmission. Is the 2004 transmission better than the 2001? I heard that the 2001 transmission on the honda civic was notorious for premature failure. Have honda addressed this issue in the 2004/2005 models? Would a 2004 honda civic transmission fit in my honda civic (2001)

i believe they upgraded to a better internal mesh filter in the late 04 and 05 models but it seems it was really just a band-aid for the problem and still occurred in those models. you can also attach an after market transmission cooler and possibly a filter.
