you do not want to disable the PCV system, which is basically what an air breather is doing. very bad for the engine.

you want that pcv hose between the engine and intake. it puts vacuum so that harmful engine gases are removed via the pcv valve and reburnt instead of causing corrosion.

dont forget the sound
make sure all the hoses hook up like stock on whatever intake you buy. theres pcv hose and also air temp sensor.

Do not put one of those little breathers on there. Like everyone else said its not good for the motor. I know some people that used it before and it aloud moisture to get through the filter. And if you have the k20a3 then you will have the same sound as the k20a2 which is in the rsx s. If you want a intake that makes some noise get the aem v2.
Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather
why do you plan on driving threw a river cuz thats the only way to get hydrolock if the filter is completely submerged in water . the company INJEN makes a hydrophobic filter shield to protect against water.

Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather
Hydro locking your car is a bunch of bull. You can drive in rain and it will be fine. Now if you drive through a river then different story. And the cold air intake doesnt make that much of a difference to a short ram. Maybe a couple horses.
Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather

Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather
The intake that you want is a great short ram intake. I use to have it on my car but now I make custom ones. But please do not put a fart can on that car, the stock axleback is alot better than that. And you would have to either cut and weld or weld a pipe on it to fit and a flange to bolt up to the midpipe. If I where you I would stay with the stock axleback or get you a real exhaust system.

Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather
I wouldnt go with a cheap exhaust system. For real since you have the ep3 then I would say go with the mugen twin loop replica which is the obx twin loop. It is a great axle back.
Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather
Here is the Mugen twin loop, this system goes on the Mugen EP3.

Just the axleback alone is 700 and the full exhaust is 1200 but I am not saying get this but there is a replica that is almost like this. Its the obx twin loop and it is a good exhaust. The obx twin loop goes for 75 for the axle back.

so the obx twin loop is just a muffler? I cant find it anywhere..... and to install it would i still have to cut and weld or would this one be easier to install?
Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather

Re: DIY Crankcase Air Breather
You will have to do some welding. look at the pic that I posted up. The obx does not come with the piping in the back with the flange to hook up to the midpipe. All you have to do is get a pipe and bend it to what the specs are like in the pic which isnt to hard and the weld that on and buy a exhaust flange and weld it on after that then your good. Any muffler shop should be able to do this. And they also have to weld on hangers. If you ever buy a universal muffler you will have to do this. But I know alot of people that have this on thier car and they love it. I am going to put it on my car as well, I have it sitting my garage.
