timing belt/water pump change in new jersey

Hi, I just purchased an 03 ex coupe 5spd few days ago and love it. its comfy but lacks power, i just switching from v6 to i4 so makes a good difference lol.

anyways, I've 137k miles on the odo and want to get the timing belt/water pump changed. i don't think i can do it now (even though i've replaced front bumper/radiator/blower fan/ brakes/starter etc on previous cars few yrs ago). So, I was wondering if any experienced person in NJ can do it on a weekend for a fee. I will drive to your place or we can work something out. let me know.

or if you know a good mechanic in central jersey who does a good job let me know. thanks

EDIT: ok... just got off the phone with a local dealer. they will do this for $555+tax, is this a good deal? - timing belt, water pump, accessory belts, coolant, valve cover gasket and adjust valves

Sounds like a fair price for all of those things they have to do but why not do it yourself. Its not hard to change the timing belt and readjust the valves. Just get the service manual and shows you everything.

yeah, that's what I decided yesterday; dont feel like throwing away $400 in labor just like that. I guess I shall wait a few weeks till the weather gets better. Planning to order the kit from timingbeltkit.com - pretty much the same price as ordering from partznet.com after all the discounts.

Just align the crank to TDC and then just align the cam gears up to them put the belt on and your good with that part. Then you have to adjust the valves and thats not to bad either. All you need is one of those little tools for it. Its alot easier than what people think but always triple check your work before you are done.

sounds good. can you give me his details. I've already ordered the set from timingbeltkit.com and it should be here soon. probably next week or the week after that i can visit him. thank you. wanted to do it myself, but i need to buy a bunch of tools to get the job done. breaker bar/ pulley tool/ impact wrench blah blah blah.
