Can the trunk of a civic EX hold a bike rack?

Can the trunk of a civic EX hold a bike rack?
I have one of those bike racks that attach with 4 ropes onto the trunk.
The rack itself weighs like 40 pounds and my bike is another 40.
Can the trunk withstand this force on a 100 mile trip (to a MTB park) or will it tear off the trunk eventually?
If so is there a way I can reinforce it?
