k20 6-speed on a d17a2
new to the civic community. I have a 2004 EX and its the first import that I have purchased. I recently took a road trip to ATL from Va. Beach and i only got 28mpg...def not what i was expecting. I was driving 80mph at 4000 rpm. I def need a 6th gear. Would this transmission fit the ex motor with a mounting plate or something? Or would the gears from a 2006 fit my tranny? my wife has a 2006 lx and it gets almost 10mpg more.
I wil fix vBPlaza today

wont work... aldo you mpg was prolly crap due to maintanece probs. how are ur sparks? 02 sensors? Tire pressure? how much weight in the car? any mods to your vehicle? also 80mpg is def not a good cruising speed for high mpg. Also are your XXk mile checkups up to date??
i have a 01 ex auto, and i make a 80mile drive almost 2 times a month. and even with 4 gears i pull about 33+ mpg crusing along at 70.

Absolutely, try driving closer to the speed limit, thats where cars are designed to get the best mpg. You dont need another gear, these cars get great mpg when everything is maintained and used properly. I could get about 34-36mpg hwy when my car was stock if I kept it at 68-70 mph.
