New K20 Question on tranny

I have a 2001 civic Ex Auto and was told that it would cost a lot more money to swap the K20A2 into my car because I would be going from an auto to a 6-speed tranny. This I all ready knew. My question is if I swapped a K20 w/ the sequential 5-speed tranny in would it work and be more cost efficient. I know the engine should be less at least. I know it would not be as fast, but I like the convenience of and auto. Besides I am not trying to break any speed records, just trying to have a little fun. Somebody please help.

Yes it would work, and yes you can get the automatic rsx-s tranny and engines a hell of alot cheaper than the 6 speeds.

there was one on ebay just a few days ago for like $1500 with only 7000 miles on it. im assuming that the person wrecked the ride pretty bad, leaving the engine in good shape. but yah, keep an eye on ebay, u might be able to come across a good deal.

You can get a K20A with an automatic (RSX), but the K20A2 (RSX-S) is only available with a 6 speed.

I don't see why it'd cost a hell of a lot more because the 5-speed has to switch to a 6-speed, seems like they'd have to replace the same parts as and automatic to a 5-speed.

Pretty much on the money there.

A GS-R as an auto? Basically that's the same as a Type S? Automatic? Never.

I here where you guys are coming from but, I was told that the K20A is a lot less expensive that the K20A2. With a K20A you get about 160 horses v/s the K20a2 that give you 200. I think if I can get a K20a @160 horses, it would be fast enough for me. They make more/better aftermaket parts for the K20 engines than they do for the D series. So later I could add more power if need be. And it will. I am sure of it.

With that said, the K20A not K20A2 comes in a 5 speed and an auto sequential 5-speed. For just those who don't know that means you decide if you want to change gears manually or not. It is preety cool. My father has one of these trannies in his 300M. Any thoughts on the subject now that I think I have cleared up any misunderstandings
