d17a2 rebiuld NEED HELP!!!

I guss ill just start with the story. i spun a rod bearing in my 02 civic ex. so i want to upgrade while its torn down. i already know the rods are the weak link in the d17. i found a kit from improtcustomparts.net and it has all the seals bearings pins pistons and rods for $1500 but if i through a stage 2 cam and new valves and etc will it change the compression ratio of the lower half.... i do plan on running a t3/t4 greddy turbo kit... any other info that i need to know i would appreciate it.

minorc will become famous soon enough
Re: d17a2 rebiuld NEED HELP!!!

It wont change the comp ratio if you put just a cam and springs / valves, and greddy doesn't make a turbo for our cars.

Re: d17a2 rebiuld NEED HELP!!!

You can change the compression if you go from a dish face valve to a flat one, but with boost you're not gonna want flat faced valves.
Having never seen a T3/T4 greddy kit... mostly because they dont make them, I think you probably want to do more homework. Anyways, an entire engine rebuild kit for 1500 sounds too cheap to be true with D17 parts, considering the pistons are 450, the rods are almost 700 and you need around $700 more in seals, gaskets and bearings from honda to rebuild it all right.

Re: d17a2 rebiuld NEED HELP!!!

ACL does not make D17 bearings. You can modify D16 bearings, but there is no direct fit. Mains are 6.XX a piece, you need 8, rods are 5.xx you need 10.
you spin a bearing, you need an oil pump, thats ~50 bucks
you need a new set of head bolts or head studs, another 100+
timing belt is an automatic replacement item, may as well also put a new tensioner on it, and a water pump +160 more
New cam and crank sensors is another $80
It adds up fast.

I have all the receipts if you dont think i'm serious.
dont even forget the fact you need to have the whole block and head flushed of bearing shavings, and have the journals and crank remachined.

Link to this "rebuild kit" please? The one you posted is spelled wrong and even spelled correctly, doesn't point to a valid site.
