SRS Light problem

I have read the SRS light threads and wanted to know which parts from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ are the:
1.) SRS Unit (I assume 4 from clicable image below)

2.) Which part is the seat belt tensioner that needs to get replaced?

3.) I cant find the OPDS unit everyone speaks of. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

The belt and the (pre) tensioner for passenger side has a 3 & 6 designation. Only available as complete assembly.

Honda has extended warranty for seat belts. Is the SRS code related to the tensioner ??

Re: SRS Light problem

just take it to the dealer. and i had the same car at one point in time and had the OPDS unit fail, or at least the diagnostics stuff at the dealer said so. you can probably get it replaced under warranty.

Re: SRS Light problem

My dealer told me seat belt related parts are in life time warranty. They replaced my driver's side buckle for free.

your car DOES have an opds unit. i think it's in the seats, something to do with the side airbags.

dude, YES they do. the OPDS unit is what determines when someone is in the seat, for the side airbags. end thread.

pretty sure he does, as his car is listed in his sig as a 2001 Honda Civic EX. if it doesnt have side airbags, then I don't know. i just know my opds unit has went bad before and i was told it could have been from having a cell phone or computer on my seat, both of which at the time i had on my seat on more than one occasion.

i had an 02 civic ex sedan a year ago that had side airbags, and now i have a 2001 civic lx coupe that had side airbags in the stock seats as well, and i have rsx seats in it now with side airbags that i'm assuming are functional because when you lean to the side in the passenger seat it'll say the airbag is off. i thought all EX models had side airbags.

Re: SRS Light problem

Wow. Thanks for all the replies. Still have not had a chance to take my car to the stealership because I have been working on remodeling my condo and can’t be without my car to transport material for more then a day.

My car does not come with side airbags. My next door neighbors 2001 Civic Ex did come with them. I guest there not installed on all Ex models.

Thanks again.

i'm trying to find out if the lack of side airbags also means lack of OPDS units. it still might not, because the SRS system still uses seat weight to determine how fast to deploy the airbags. the dealership would obviously be more knowledgeable on the SRS system. they fixed mine no questions asked.

Re: SRS Light problem

Here is the answer:

If you have 2 plugs under your seat you do have the OPDS, one plug will be grey in color (Seat Belt minder) the other will be yellow (opds)

Re: SRS Light problem

i have two plugs under my seat with rsx seats with side airbags. SRS light has been on since I put them in and would come back on after trying the SRS reset DIY several times. I've since just ignored it....i wonder sometimes though if my 'bags will deploy in a crash...

same prob here. a service coordinator told that it must be the seat.i'm thinking of replacing the seat belt on the rsx seat itself to a honda civic.i'm not sure though if it might work.

Re: SRS Light problem

This is interesting:

I also have a similar issue. I have a SRS light in my 2002 civic 4dr LX (With SIDE AIRBAGS!!!). The dealer-**** states it is an "OLD History Code." They cleared it and told me "it might come back on"

The mechanic says it is a High output Load on the passenger side airbag??? Don't quote me on this exact terminology because it was hard to understand

So ofcourse the light comes back on. I take it there and now they are saying it could be:

1. SRS Unit [$415 includes 1.5hrs labor]
2. SRS Harness [$960 includes 2.0hrs labor]
3. Passenger Airbag [$890 includes 1.0hrs labor]

These prices are just for comparison in your case. They want to charge $78 to take a look and test each component for the faulty part. It will be applied to and included into the above costs.

The dealership never did mention anything to me about the seatbelts as potentially being a problem. Maybe it is something that I can inquire further next time I go.

Maybe we can ALL get this figured out. Anyone else have any input?

The dealer also stated Many times the AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY in the event of an accident due to current SRS Light being on.

Thanks again for your input and help guys!
