Left engine mount busted. (pics)
I had to take off both the upper left and lower left mount so I could slip off a couple belts, and I noticed that this thing is trashed. I couldn't even insert a socker wrench because it's bent up. The previous owner did something to it, but I don't know what. It drives excellent, but the engine moves back and forth in 1st gear if I don't feather it. Why do you think the lower mount would bend and break?
As for function, it doesn't seem like it does a whole lot. The screw goes into the rubber inside the bracket and it has free movement--so it doesn't stabalise the engine in any way. Should I even bother replacing it?

I think it's as simple as taking the A/C compressor off, then behind it is the aluminum piece the bracket is attached to.
