Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

forget a k swap. do a b16 or a gsr swap. b16 swap goes for 1200 bucks and a gsr a lil more then that now.. swap a b series and youll be plenty happy, and can be just as fun as a k.

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

A guy i know turboed his 95 ex (same engine) and got about 178whp and 165tq. Pretty fun little car. Me...i just bought my project 94 civic dx and am doing a GSR b18c1 swap. 175whp and then turboing in a few years after i get bored with just N/A and will have 320whp and 270tq on stock internals...talk about fun... But I have to save up the 5g's for the swap first. (a little expensive because i'm getting it all reworked with bearings and all the seals and valve work and skunk2 intake mani...etc. But there are endless possibilities to these cars...have fun and let me know if you want to know anything about what you can do.

PS. don't waiste your money on a k20 swap on them unless you have lots of $$$...and plan on staying N/A...because k20 is only worth it if you're looking for high hp on All Motor. (because you can really get there)...but as far as for turbo set ups...you can get just as much out of a b series engine as you can out of a k with half the cost (and you can easily keep ac and ps)...

93 ex is a 1.6 liter i have the same car and i havent started modding it yet. its really underpowered so im gonna free up the breathing with an intake header and possibly a hig flow cat and exhaust. you can look around and talk to people on what exhaust to use to not sound like a pissed off bumble bee. also you can lower it to give it better stance and cornering gets a little better and you cant forget the little things like plug wires n stuff like that

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

save ur money and just buy a b16. cheap swap, and u get 160hp and the mods are endless. you would be so much more happy with a b16 setup. trust.

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

like everyone else I would say swap, but if you don't want to spend the money then just make a couple mods you would be happy with. i can't afford to swap out my d17a2 so for now im good with intake, headers, exhaust, hi flow cat, and a short shifter. in my case i barely made any more power. (im about to go turbo with the d17a2) with those minor bolt ons you would see maybe a 10-20 increase in hp (not sure if thats accuarate) so enjoy the car and better gas mileage, even though it cost me 34$ for ten gallons of gas yesterday

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

if u just want better gas mileage versus more power then do a k&n filter, exhaust, and drop it on its nuts! anything such as cams, pistons, and most other engine parts are going to run up a bill, so ur better off swapping if ur gona go that rout

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

you know you guys, everyones dropping a b16 or gsr or k20 into their ride. if i wanted a b16 i would go get a '00 si (i plan on doing that one day). i would rather buld the crowd by building the motor that was put on the car like the d16z6. yea im not baggin on the guys that swapped out their 1.5 liter because theres less parts for them but i dont really see the point of changin out the engine. you have the cost of an engine plus the build bill or just a build bill.

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

if you wanna make it more fun, then do up suspension and tires. Then work on engine components, that doesnt mean throwing on an intake and exhaust though. Just do little mods before going into alot of major stuff, modding takes ALOT of money

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

go for it. forget swapping. u already dont wana do it..so dont. dont let someone make u do sumthing u really dont wana do. you have to experience this for urself it seems like. none of these people wana help and let u know what to expect. most of them dont have ur motor anyway so w.e. start in the usual process bro. Intake..header/exhaust. then go head and start experimenting. idont think those throttle body spacers do much. i have a feeling its a waste of money and might throw a CEL. go for pullies and cams if u wana spend the money. i dont think itll get u any significant gains...at all. i duno. build up ur suspension after the IHE. then ur transmission...if u have stick? that will make it much more spirited than wasting ur money on engine parts..honeslty. better cost to benefit ratio.

Re: 1993 Honda Civic Ex.. 1.5 Litre L4

with an auto I would focus more on the suspension. then maybe just an exhaust and short ram intake for some sound and maybe a couple more hp. it can still be fun to drive but like someone else said i would stay away from the tb spacer.
