Can't get pulley bolt off. Argh!
I'm planning on doing a DIY for the 96-00's with pics, but it's at a stand-still since I just can't take this thing out. First off, I've got a 50mm pulley holder. It doesn't help much though when you break socket extensions--I mean this thing is on tight! I didn't think it would be such a hastle. Am I even turning the bolt the right way? It should be counterclockwise right? Also, does Honda over-torque it so that you don't mess with it?
I read that I shouldn't use a socket extension because they will break, and that's true, but with the pulley holder in place it's too deep for even a deepwell socket, or am I wrong?

deepwell impact socket, on a breaker bar, then slip a 5' pipe over the breaker bar handle. Remove the bumper so you have room, then put the pulley tool directly on a 1/2" ratchet handle, and wedge it between the control arm and the axle.
lean on the 5' or longer pipe until the pulley comes undone. Its not cranked on there so you cant get it off.... you gotta realize how much torque the motor puts out.... and that bolt has to stay on there tight no matter what.

I bought an ingersoll rand 231G. Max tourque is 450 ft lbs forward and 500 back. 4.2cfm. This should work right? I have to wait for monday for the air compressor.

Removed it pretty easily. I bought a 24" 1/2" breaker bar, a 17mm deepwell socket (non-impact), and a 4 food pipe. The tools were from autozone. I had to take the bumper and washer resovior off to get room for leverage, but it worked.
It's very important that the socket stays perfectly straight in the 50mm holder tool, any tilt will strip the bolt. I placed a metal piece below the breaker bar holding the 17mm socket so it no longer tilted downward. (I was pushing downward thus the whole setup wanted to go downward)
SLOW AND STEADY.
