Question ground required ??

Im installing a pioneer hu and am wondering if I the hu needs to be grounded or not . anyone know ??

its electronical... is needs to be grounded

normally all you have to do is match up the wire on the radio with the one on the harness. otherwise you will have to make your own independent ground

I would recommend going with the independent ground. When I swapped out my previous unit for my current Pioneer, I used the same screw that grounds the 12V power outlet, since it's right there next to the HU.

If you want it to turn on, then yes it has to be grounded. anything in a car that has current running through it needs a ground.

finished install and ended up making an independent ground .......... deck works and looks great

Well, that should be covered in the owner's manual, you know. It's supposed to say all these thing in a manual.
