Wow, looks pretty good. You can forget about me wiring you money, lol. Actually, whats your paypal, i'll give you my 2 cents, lmao. Gotta get the rest of that done. Def get your tint done sooner rather then later so you dont get sun bleached! It will look pretty tight on the center spots, you might even have some of that patter show through, that would look real good! I dunno about what i'm thinking of doing though, black is one thing- its suttle, but dying part of your interior red... lol, you really cant go back and fix that after you dye it!

Just thought I'd give some CPR to this thread and bring it back to life.
Anyone finish the visors yet... and keep the mirrors / the flap... anyone? Anyone done the visors without the mirrors?

My visors were done for me accidentally. My original shop screwed up my visor screens so they reupholstered them with the black carbon fiber vinyl that I got my headliner done in. They are without mirrors. I can take pix of them if you want to see them, but they were quickly replaced with black plastic 7" screen visors.
If I didn't have to work this weekend, by driver side visor would have been done. I got everything painted that I wanted painted. All I gotta do is finish putting that bull$hi+ mirror trim piece back and the cover and I'm done. Shouldn't be too much longer now

Hey triz i have a question for you. You have tan interior and are trying to do red correct? Why dont you just get that dupli-color interior paint that slickstarnz has and dye the visors red. Just keep adding coats till the colors are almost the same. I dunno maybe its a dumb idea. Or you could just dye it black and have a red and black interior, or just leave it tan thats prolly easier. Its just a thought.

^^ I love my tan interior, its kinda classy and black just looks run down after a few years, but my tan interior still looks brand new.
I dunno about the mirrors, they are pissing me off beacause I already took them apart and cant get them completed with the mirror + the mirror cover. I"ll probably just shave off the flap and throw them togheter next time i'm back home and live with it, maybe buy the tan ones or something if I see a member selling them. who knows. Its not huge on my priority list.
I'm not so sure the dupli color would end up matching the tone of my headliner, and would end up looking funky. Oh well. we'll see in time.

Yeah I can feel the cavity. Originally my mirrors were removed and I had some screens installed, but when they screwed up my visors all they did was cover up the hole.
Well you can say I am being a little modest... it was a bit of a bitch... maybe luck was on my side. I took a lot of timeto do just the one of them (mostly due to the fact I needed warm weather to paint the stuff) Dunno what work has in store for me tomorrow, but if I have enough time, I'm gonna finish the bitch. I just need some epoxy to make sure it is extra strong, paint one more piece, snap it together, and I'm DONE (with one of 'em)
Here's the pic's of the visor. I haven't closed it up yet so if there are any pics you want of the inside, let me know. I have to finish painting one final piece (as you can see in the pic.) and then it's going back in... finally!! Then time to work on the passenger side.
I suck at DIY's... I tried with the headliner, and it came out Shi++y. When I start on the other one, I'll take some pics. during the process in case I decide to take a stab at another DIY.

Re: Custom Headliner?
This is an awesome thread. I'm going to do my door panels with red suede this weekend. And I read all 16 pages LOL. Triz that red headliner is freaking awesome. That's what I want to do with mine.

Re: Custom Headliner?
Yeah its pretty cool. I ripped it off, was going to do something crazier with the headliner, not sure if I wanna do it still tho, might... hmm.
Re: Custom Headliner?
so i was just reading along and realized i had read all 16 pages!!! i was actually looking to see if any1 has tried to replace the headliner with a sunroof, as im assuming it will have its own problems.

Re: Custom Headliner?
You need to cut the roof of your car, weld in one from an ex, then do the wiring and figure out the drain tubes, and of course replace the headliner with one from an ex as well... Its more work than its worth if you ask me.

Re: Custom Headliner?
Oh.. well shoot man, drop the headliner and follow the same steps. yours is easier because you have less large surface area pieces to worry about keeping wrinkle free. If you pick a material that is thicker then microsuede- which is about the thickness of silk- then your job will be a lot easier because you wont have to worry about bleed through, which is a bitch.
Re: Custom Headliner?
i have done mine 3 times (with a sun roof) and its not so easy. i find the flat surface is easyer to work with, than the sun roof part. on the edges of the sun roof you have to cut the material just right, so it will wrapp around the edges.
a tip when you do it, is start in the middle and work your way out. i sarted at the top corner and ended up with a bunch of waves. i just re-did it about a week ago, for the 3rd time. now it looks good and smooth.
3M headliner glue works the best. i used 2 1/2 cans because i wanted it to stick real good. spray it on, wait about 45 seconds to a minute before putting on the headliner. DONOT put it on wet or it will seep through. and only do it a few feet at a time. dont spray the whole thing and try to stick it on, it will be a lot harder.
