Intake Answers?

I have serched the fourums and have not found anything on this...
I have an Lx Manual, according to Aem's website they do not offer a short ram for my car....
Is using short ram bad for the Lx Manu. engine?
What would you recomend for my car intake, and why?
SRI or CAI?
Which brands?

I live in Phoenix so its dusty all the time and when it actually rains it get really flooded I dont want to destroy my engine, so if SRI is possible would that be a better alternative?

maybe ur not putting enuf info in search phrase or too much , make u hit select all and search. But the usual answer is going to be CAI for manual and SRI for autmatic (but i have a CAI for my auto) there are so many brands to choose from AEM, INJEN, ICEMAN, weapon, jdm, custom ect ect ect)

No matter what trans. you have, you should always go with a CAI...don't listen to the rumors about only SRI on an auto, I did some research and that's BS like no other....get a CAI....if you have an auto, get the Injen CAI and if you have the 5-speed, you can either get the AEM or INjen. Iceman is good as well, and they have one that fits both the 5 and the auto.... but it is more $$.

<< AEM does not make an SRI for 5speed >>

WHAT???? you're on crack, AEM most certainly does make an SRI for 5 spd, there are members on this site that have it even. know what you're talking about before you post something

if you have the money, go with the CAI, and if you're really worried about the water, get the AEM bypass valve. straight and simple answer for you.

hehe..well acutally to contridict myself here...in a lil "test" me and my buddy did we found out that a 5spd Civic Ex coupe w/ Injen Sri and 2.25 piping/muffler vs the same thing but with a AEM CAI are the same. We stayed dead even till we both quit around 60-65mph.

To answer your exact question:

Even thou AEM says they don't make a SRI for the 5 speed, you can still buy the SRI they sell for the auto and it will still fit and mount the same. They just sell the CAI for the 5speed because it can be done as both CAI and SRI depending on your own preference.

When installing the CAI, just don't put the bottom tube on, and just attach the cone filter. Thats exactly what my dealership did to a 2k2 civic coupe in their showroom. They left the bottom tube in the trunk.
So that way you can switch between CAI and SRI depending on your mood.

Oh and one more thing. With my AEM CAI, the filter is resting just above my car's frame... so the only way I would be able to suck up water is if I drove my car into a puddle that was deeper than my car's frame... I don't imagine you would be doing that any time soon

Visit my DIY for the AEM intake to see how it all looks installed.
