Question how do i? update wiring Q

is there a way to take off the steering wheel 'neck' cover (for lack of a better word), the plastic cover that has the signal and wiper controls sticking out of it, w/o having to remove the steering wheel?

turbo timer diy has it too. just remove bottom 3 screws and pull off the plastics. there is a top and bottom piece but they are clipped on hard to each other. I broke some of mine but it came off and went back together.

when your clips broke it didn't present any issues for fitment afterwards? I'd assume the screws would suffice?

ya there are a bunch of spots where it clips together. when putting it back, you snap the covers back together and then do the screws.

To release the clips correctly push in on the sides where the two sections come together.

what is either wire?

for those who don't read all posts, I'm trying to replace the little red light on the steering wheel neck for the Honda Alarm....

i would take a multimeter and just check, if u get it backwards, depending on the meter, it'll either say -(whatever volts) or zero....

the alarm LED is like a 500mA, very low voltage output because it is resistored at the alarm brain. You won't be able to just cut the old LED out and replace it with a scanner. You'll have to give the scanner 12v+, ground and a ground when armed output. You can, however, replace the LED with another LED without any problems.

I guess this means just a simple dice and splice of the two wires?

just be sure you get a bare LED, most LED's you find at like pepboys or whatever have inline resistors, they wont work with your factory wires.
