dry ice
before i mount my nitrous bottle i was wondering something. My trunk has everything removed like spare, wood, carpet, etc but not the tar material. It is very hard to scrape or remove this material and i was going to use dry ice. I already know where to buy it but how long do i keep the dry ice on and when i break up the tar when it freezes should i just use a hammer to break it?
I would say let the dry ice sit on the tar for a good 5-10 mins to let it really really cool off the area. Once that happens U can try to take a hammer to it...but I'd say use some type of chizel with a hammer hitting the end....

ha that's a myth. I tried that and it wouldn't budge. Its almost easier to get off when its warm and gooey. Ask the body shop guys. I know they had to remove some of mine to fix the trunk floor after the accident.

serious? alot of people on honda-tech said that they took off all the tar/sound deadening material in about 30-40 mins because of dry ice. So u would just let the car sit out in the sun for about an 1hr (it is going to get alot hotter in cali) and then take off the tar?

liquid nitrogen, lol, and when you punch the chisel through the floor i will be here, laughin my damn a$$ off. either that or its gonna spill on a body part, or even turn into a game like jacka$$ and you are going to start freezing everything and breaking it for fun. Did you know that if you dip a raquetball in liquid nitrogen and throw it against a wall it doesnt bounce back. Ah the wonders of being a drunk nerd in college.

heat gun and a scraper work best. the dry ice thing is stupid...in the amount of time you have to wait for each area the dry ice needs to cover...id have done 3 cars with a heat gun and a scraper.

lol i just let my car sit in the sun today and even in cali's high 90's temp i got 1 section done in the trunk with a scraper. Not to mention it took me 2 hrs, and alot of elbow grease and made me bleed. I think i will try the heat gun.

its not bad. as long as you wear gloves and stuff and don't leave your hand in it. Only thing is if your pour it, it will spread out everywhere until evaporating.

supposedly 15-35 punds from what people on this site said. I threw away most of my tar. Should have kept and weighed it. But when i went to throw it away i could tell the tar weighed something lol. I just want the whole trunk to be silver instead of being part silver and the tar color. Also makes it lighter in the process too lol.
