Engine light on after shampoo???

Haha, my bro just took his 02' Si/SiR HB out from winter storage and his engine was filthy so, he took it to the local coin-op and washed it down with the engine shampoo option they have, now his engine light is on I laugh and smile b/c were very competitive with eachother, but he's my brother so Im trying to help him out. So long story short does n e one know some quick things to check for after washing the engine bay for reasons why his light is on???

Also my friend with the 99' SiR coupe has one of the filthiest engine bays ever, it has like some rust protectant that I thought was an UNDERBODY coating but its all over his engine bay, and has built up over a few years. Now hes done some modifications and in the sake of making his car last longer, he now stores it during the winter. So he can wash all that crap off, but its pretty tough stuff, any recomendations on what to use that wont dry/harden any rubber mounts or hoses???

take it to an auto zone or something and have them pull the code.

You could pull the battery -- lead for a few seconds to see if it will reset. May return though.

it's prolly water that messed up something. Either electrical or with the intake. I hope he didn't just spray without covering up anything. But let the car dry completely, and pull the battery to reset the code (does that even work with older gens?).

I bet you its an 02 sensor high voltage. Ive got mine wet before and it caused them to fail, water adds extra voltage with can kill it.

skiboard is on a distinguished road
I think it should be alrite. I have a vented CF hood and most of the time after I go for an auto wash, engine check lights up and after driving a bit, it disappears.
