Electrical Question

For all you electrical gurus. If you splice a wire so that you can extend it, how do you get the two ends to make a connection again. Meaning, cut a wire in half, now there is a 2" gap between the ends, how do you get them to connect to eachother again. Must be weather proof. Thanks guys.

Use wire taps. They have two grooves for each wire to fit, then you clamp down a metal piece and wrap with tape. Or just wrap the wires around each other. Electrical tape is pretty much fine if you wrap it well enough.

any auto place. They are called wire taps or splices. They're maybe an inch, but what do you mean fill the gap? If you just need to connect wires together but they're not long enough, you need to buy extra wire and splice it to each end.

telly telly telly, I was just bout to say that.
Splice, pig tie, solder, heatshrink. Do on both sides and your done.

Soldering is a MUST for any electrical work, no point taking risks in the future and trying to troubleshoot bad wiring.

yeah buy some wire at pepboys or something use a good set of wire dykes strip about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch off both existing wires, cut about 3" for the middle piece, strip the 1/2 inch off both side of that, now spread the ends of all 4 pieces into v or t shape, twist them togeter with the existing wires, solder, and tape. done.
